PLACES TO VISIT
Elmrise Park is ideally situated for touring, being in easy reach of many attractions around the area. What ever your interest, there is something for everyone. The Park is in easy reach of attraction in Pembrokeshire and the Gower as well as the Carmarthenshire countryside.
There are many places to visit, most are within an hours drive from the park and many are just 20 or 40 minutes drive away. The market town of Carmarthen is just 6miles away and the in the other direction the towns and beaches of Tenby (were you can book a boat trip to Caldy Island) and Saundersfoot in Pembrokeshire are just 40mins away.
For the children there is Folly Farm, Manor House Wild Animal Park and Oakwood Theme Park, all in the same area. If you like gardens there are our very own Botanic Gardens in Llanarthne which are only 20mins drive. Aberglasney is another garden not to be missed and is quite unique and being about the same distance.
The village of Laughaurne is approximately 20mins away where you can visit Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse and see where the famous Welsh poet and writer spent his days writing, and perhaps visit Laughaurne castle as well.

The Boat House
There are several National Trust properties and Cadw’s ancient sights and castles make a very interesting day out. Swansea and the Gower are also in easy reach, Swansea being 40mins drive and in less than an hour you could be on the lovely Gower coast line.
For those of you who enjoy walking, there are plenty of opportunities in all directions, both long and short walks, Green Castle Woods making a very pleasing walk, which can be reached just a few miles up the road.
If your not wanting to travel too far, on the edge of the park is the Pant-yr-Athro Country Inn and International Hostel, serving Mexican food and bar snacks and the Mansion House Hotel (which is open to non residents) serving meals, including Sunday Lunches. The town of Carmarthen is just 6miles away, where you can get everything you might need, on the way, there is the village of Llangain where there is the cosy Pantydderwen Tavern where you can get a good selection of food.
Just two miles down the road from your chalet is the quiet unspoilt seaside village of Llanstephan, which has all the basic amenities, village shop, Post Office and two pubs, both of which serve food. Near the beach car park there is a tea room selling home-made cakes and a small selection of Welsh gifts and crafts. At low tide, you can walk around the headland to Scott’s Bay, or if the tide is in you can take the coastal path from the village or the beach, past the castle. Llanstephan castle was built by the Normans in the early 12th century, from there you can see lovely views of the surrounding area. Clearly visible across the Towy estuary is the village of Ferryside, which was once accessible from Llanstephan by ferryboat.
There are many other places to visit, information on which can be found in the chalet for you to browse through at your leisure, but here are a few to get you started:
